Philippe de Gaspe Beaubien is a Canadian media mogul, who serves as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Telemedia. He established the company in the year 1968, and later acquired several radio stations in Ontario and Quebec. He also launched several magazines such as Harrowsmith, Canadian Living and the Canadian editions of TV Guide and ELLE. Today, he is one of the richest people in Canada with an estimated net worth of $741 million.
Together with his wife, Nan-b de Gaspe Beaubien, he established the Business Families Foundation, which is a non-profit charitable organization that is aimed at helping business families living in Canada and abroad. In the years 1973 and 1974, Beaubien served as the Chairman of Canadian Association of Broadcasters. He was also the founder, President and Honorary Chairman of ParticipAction.
Beaubien attained a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Montreal in 1952. He also obtained an MBA in 1954 from Harvard University. He also received an honorary degree in law from York University in the year 1979. In 1967, he was made an Officer of the Order of Canada, due to his contribution to Centennial Year as the director of operations for the 1967 World Exhibition.
