Dave Whelan Net Worth $210 Million
The current owner of Wigan Athletic and the DW stadium, David ‘Dave’ Whelan was born in 1936. He was a professional football player with Blackburn Rovers and Crewe Alexandria, but he is mostly known for breaking his leg in the FA Cup Final in 1960 where they lost to Wolverhampton wanderers. A victory against Manchester City on May 2013 gave him the chance to hold the FA Cup trophy, the first in the club’s history. Through his resources, he managed to steer Wigan Athletic from a Division three to the Premiership as Championship Runners-up. A supporter of the conservative party who, amidst controversy, called for a moment of silence for Margaret Thatcher in 2013, he is estimated to be worth $210 million.
