Danny DeVito is a renowned American actor, comedian, producer and director. He was born Daniel Michael "Danny" DeVito, Jr. on November 17, 1944 in Neptune Township, New Jersey. He started his film acting career in 1975, and has earned his massive fortune of $70 million from his acting roles and through his production company, Jersey Films.
DeVito’s production company is known for films such as Freedom Writers, Garden State and Pulp Fiction among others. The self-made millionaire is also the owner of Jersey Television, which was responsible for the production of the hit Reno 911 a comedy Central series. Devito also produces and directs graphic short horror films for his internet venture known as The Blood Factory.
In January 17, 1971, Devito met Rhea Perlman at a performance of the play, “The Shrinking Bride”. Two weeks later, they moved in together and on January 28, 1982, they got married. They have three children together: Lucy Chet DeVito, Grace Fan DeVito and Jacob Daniel DeVito. Devito and Perlman have over the years acted alongside each other, including in the feature film Matilda and the TV show Taxi. The couple parted in October 2012 after 40 years together. Less than a year later, they reconciled and called off the separation. Devito and his family resides in Beverly Hills, California, and spends time at their vacation home located in Interlaken, New Jersey.
Besides being known as a family man, DeVito is also known to be an animal lover. He is also a strict vegetarian, and he has on one occasion asked his Twitter followers to watch Forks Over Knives, which is a health documentary that advocates for plant-based diets. He and his wife are members of the steering committee of the Friends of the Apollo. DeVito also co-owned a restaurant known as the “Devito South Beach” which is located in Miami Beach, Florida. The restaurant was closed down in 2011.
