Daniel Ziff is the son of William Ziff Jr. a publishing magnate behind the Ziff Davis media empire, comprising of PC magazine and Car & Driver. Ziff has an accumulated wealth that is estimated to amount to $4.4 billion.
Together with his billionaire brothers Dirk and Robert, he inherited a massive fortune from their father in the early 1990’s after his retirement. The three brothers now run an investment company known as Ziff Brothers Investments, which is based in New York.
The Ziff brothers have also invested in equities, real estate, debts, commodities, hedge funds and private equity. Their investments also included providing seed money to fellow billionaire fund manager Daniel Och in exchange for a 10 per cent stake in Och-Ziff Capital Management. This went public in 2007.
In January 2012, reports emerged indicating that Ziff Brothers Investments cashed out its investment in billionaire Edward Lampert’s ESL investments. Following this, Lampert purchased $130 million sears stock from the fund.
Ziff is 42 years old, which makes him one of the youngest billionaires in the world. He is a graduate from the University of Columbia with a Bachelor of Arts / Science. Ziff got married in 2009 and has one child.
