Boasting of a net worth of $200 million, Bette Midler is also known by the stage name of Divine Miss M. Born on December 1, 1945, Bette Midler grew up in Hawaii. She first started her acting career through a series of off Broadway plays. Her initial break began in 1970 when she started to sing at a gay bathhouse. Her work at the bathhouse introduced her to Barry Mantilow. In the future, he would help her to create her first album. Around this time, she was cast in Broadway shows like Salvation and Fiddler on the Roof. As a musician, she has managed to sell more than 30 million albums. Out of these, four albums were certified platinum multiple times and eight were platinum certified. Altogether, she has released a total of 13 albums.
As a child, she was named after the actress Bette Davis. She grew up in Hawaii and enrolled at the University of Hawaii. Although she only stayed for three semesters, she studied drama during her time there. Before long, she was used as an extra in the 1964 film, “Hawaii”. This encouraged her to move to New York City in 1964. Although she finally achieved success with the Broadway show, “Fiddler on the Roof”, her sister was killed by a taxi cab at the same time. Outside of her career, Better Midler has worked on numerous charity projects. She created the New York Restoration Project to help revitalize neighborhoods. By 2003, she opened Swindler Cover Park for the usage of local residents. Education programs at the site where designed to help students from high-poverty Title I schools.
