Benjamin Graham was a revolutionist in his own right; he is the brains behind value investing. Moreover, he was shrewd investor and the author of Security Analysis and The Intelligent Investor, two investment books that are considered a must read for any serious investors. Graham definitely left his mark on the financial world as his legacy lives on through his students and followers including Warren Buffett and Irving Kahn.
Even from an early age, it was clear that Graham had a mind to be reckoned with. So upon his graduation from Columbia University the institution offered him a job as an instructor in three subjects. However, Benjamin had other ideas and he was off to Wall Street where he joined forces with Jerome Newman and from that point the rest was history.
Notably, Graham did eventually venture into teaching and this move further solidified his place in history. You see, it was while he was lecturing at the Columbia Business School that he came across the likes of Warren Buffett. So great was his impact on young Buffett that he named his son Howard Graham Buffett after his mentor.
Benjamin died on 21st September, 1976 at the ripe age of 82. Till today, we are not sure how much he is worth. But one proof of the success of his investing ideas is Warren Buffett. The billionaire investor who followed in the footsteps of this man is now the greatest investor on earth.
