Bernard Sherman or popularly known as Barry Sherman is a Canadian billionaire with an estimated net worth of $3.2 billion. He is currently ranked as the 15th richest person in Canada. He serves as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Apotex Inc. His business career heightened in 1967, when he purchased the Empire Group of Companies. Before making the purchase, Empire was the 1st company to secure the obligatory rights to manufacture diazepam (Hoffman-La Roche’s Valium). It was also one of the largest manufacturers of tetracycline (Pfizer’s Vibramycin), as well as Saccharin, which is a dietary sweetener.

In the 70s, Sherman invested in Barr Laboratories, becoming the biggest stakeholder and the President of the company. By the year 2000, he was controlling about 33.1% of company’s stock. According to Forbes, Barr is the main pharmaceutical supplier to Wal-Mart.
