August Alsina (born August Anthony Alsina, Jr.) is a young and an upcoming American hip-hop artist who hails from New Orleans. He is currently signed to Def Jam Recordings and Radio Killa Records. He released his first mixtape titled “The Product” on April 2012. An untitled mixtape containing six acoustic covers debut on October 2011. On January 2013, his single titled “I Luv This Shit” featuring Trinidad James was released. His mixtape titled “The Product 2” was released in May 2013.

Both his father and stepfather battled with crack cocaine addiction, which later caused the death of his biological father. His mother took him and his brother, Melvin La’Branch III to Houston, Texas, after the devastating Hurricane Katrina. Unfortunately, Alsina was kicked out by his mother after they had disagreements. He and his brother settled in the streets selling drugs to earn a living. His brother was shot dead during their daily illegal endeavors, and this became Alsina’s turning point. In 2011, the young lad shifted to Atlanta, where he started his music career. Today, he has an estimated net worth of $1 million.
