Anita Zucker is an American entrepreneur and philanthropist. According to Forbes Magazine, she has an estimated net worth of $2.6 billion, most of which derives from Hudson’s Bay Company, which was founded by her husband (deceased) in 1982. Anita also owns the Carolina Ice Palace, as well as 50 per cent of the South Carolina Stingrays, which is a minor league hockey team. Forbes ranks her as the 237th richest person in the United States and the 692nd richest person in the world. She is also the only billionaire residing in South Carolina.
Anita inherited Hudson’s Bay Company, a maker of specialty chemicals, precision aircraft parts and high-tech fibers in 2008 after her husband died of brain tumor. She serves as the Governor (Chair) of the company, while her son, Jonathan Zucker, serves as the President of the company. Anita became the first woman to have occupied that position since the company’s inception.
Anita’s philanthropic endeavors have also earned her a great reputation. She is a member of the board of the Coastal Community Foundation, a trustee of Jewish Endowment Fund and the Saul Alexander Foundation. She is a former board member of Trident United Way, Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce, Porter-Gaud School and the MUSC Foundation. The 62-year old widow resides in Charleston South Carolina with her three children named Jonathan, Andrea and Jeffrey Zucker.
