Amitabh Bachchan Net Worth $65 Million

Born on 11th October, 1942, Amitabh Harivansh Bachchan came into the world in Allahabad, which was then known as the United Province under the British Rule. He was born to Harivansh Rai Bachchan, a Hindi poet and Teji Bachchan, who was a Sikh from Faisalabad. His father often addressed him as ‘Bachchan’, which he used as a pen name for publishing his poems. This is the reason that Amitabh debuted in the industry with the last name ‘Bachchan’, despite having a different family name which is ‘Srivastava’. Bachchan was widely known in the 70’s for his role as “angry young man”, which marked the beginning of his fame in the Indian film industry. During the 70s and 80s, his dominance over the industry was so prominent that French director Francois Truffaut once called him “One Man Industry”.

From 1990 to 2000, Amitabh Bachchan faced several failures with respect to his films. He started a production company, Amitabh Bachchan Company Ltd., which after quite a few flop movies, went bankrupt and was declared a failure by the Government of India. In 1992, Bachchan decided to take a career break for a few years and during this period some more of his films failed to impress the audience. At the end of this career break, in the year 2000, Amitabh returned to the industry with the romantic drama Mohabbatein, starring Shahrukh Khan and several other stars. The movie was a huge hit at the box office and provided him with an excellent comeback. After Mohabbatein, Amitabh appeared in several other hit movies and he gained appreciation once again. Amitabh Bachchan has also hosted the TV show Kaun Banega Crorepati, which was the Indian version of ‘Who Wants to be a Millionare?’ and Bigg Boss Season 4. He is also known for his deep, baritone voice which makes him fit for narration and voice-overs. The net worth of this legend is estimated to be around $65 million.
