Albert “Aldo” Bensadoun is a Canadian entrepreneur and a self-made millionaire. He is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Aldo Group, which is a Montreal-based retail shoe company. Aldo was born in France, but he relocated to the U.S to obtain his post-secondary education. Today, he has an estimated net worth of $996 million, which makes him one of the most financially successful people in Canada.
The Aldo Group was founded in the 70s, and it was until 1993 that it expanded into the United States. The group currently sells over $1.8 billion worth of shoes annually. It has about 1,600 stores in 80 countries around the world. The majority of the group’s stores are franchise, and Saudi Arabia is among the company’s leading markets, with over 50 stores. The group has managed to succeed where other Canadian companies in the likes of Canadian Tire and Le Chateau have failed.
Aldo received the National Order of Quebec, which is an award for merit given by the government of the province of Quebec, Canada. The Canadian millionaire is a sponsor of the Aldo Racing team, which has successfully completed 3 times in the Dakar Rally. He is married with two children, Douglas Bensadoun and David Bensadoun.
