Al Gore, born on March 31, 1948, in Washington, D.C attended Harvard and earned a degree in government with high honors. This was after writing a thesis called the impact of television on the conduct of the presidency. In 1969, he enlisted in the United States army and was assigned as a military journalist to write for The Army Flier, a base newspaper. Gore, in 1970 was sent to Vietnam where he served with the 20th engineer brigade.
After his military duties, he returned to the States and worked as a reporter with the Tennessean where he covered bribery and political cases which led to convictions. While still a journalist, he enrolled for philosophy and phenomenology at Vanderbilt University. He then enrolled for law at Vanderbilt’s law school, in 1974 but left in 1976 to pursue a political ambition of running for the United States House from Tennessee where he has been elected four times and became the first person to appear on C-Span. Gore decided to make a bid for the nomination for the presidency on a democratic ticket in 1988 though he did not make it, but he remained in the senate. He was chosen as a running mate by Bill Clinton in 1992.Where Bill Clinton won the elections and was also re-elected in 1996.
He tried to cut back on bureaucracy in the government during his term though his profile suffered after being investigated by the Justice Department as a result of his fund-raising activities. His net worth is $250 million and some of his achievements are a Nobel Prize for his work on global warming. After his departure from politics, he has become a success in business, a writer as well as a speaker.
