Brazil

The stage seems set for Brazil to capture its record 6th World Cup in 2014. Backed by the home crowd and the talents of Neymar, Oscar, Thiago Silva and company, the team definitely has a balanced team equally adept at attacking and defending as well. The coach Luiz Felipe Scolari is no stranger to World Cup triumphs; he managed the victorious 2002 Brazilian team. The pressure is enormous for the team to deliver and whether it proves to be detrimental to the team’s chances remains yet to be seen.

Germany

Over the recent years, Germany has come tantalizingly close to capturing the World Cup. They were runners up in the 2002 edition and finished 3rd in the 2006 and 2010 editions. The team looks stronger than ever with its current lineup and is by far the most complete team. The good form of German Players Philip Lahm, Thomas Muller and Bastian Schweinsteiger is crucial to help them secure a trophy that has eluded them for so long.

Spain

Reigning champions have often fared badly in the FIFA tournaments, but that is no reason to exclude Spain from the list. The Spanish team has a wealth of talent at their disposal and they know what it takes to win the World Cup. Their experience could prove to be vital in the country’s lead up to a second successive World cup triumph. Players such as Andres Iniesta, Diego Costa, and David Silva spearhead the attack for Spain whereas Sergio Ramos and Gerard Pique are more than capable of handling the defensive front.

Argentina

We know Lionel Messi (See Also : Lionel Messi Net Worth) is one of the best players on the planet and he regularly draws comparison to football great Diego Maradona,Messi needs the World Cup to eclipse Maradona’s achievements and 2014 seems like the best opportunity for him to do so. At the peak of his career, the man has able players in Angel Di Maria, Sergio Aguero and Javier Mascherano to help him achieve the coveted World Cup. Argentina possesses some of the planet’s most lethal strikers and they could hold the key to unlock the passage to a World Cup victory.

 Netherlands

The Dutch football team is considered to be one of the unluckiest team in the world. They’ve managed to reach 3 World Cup finals but have yet to win the trophy. In the previous edition of the World Cup, the Dutch team finished runners up. The team won 9 out of their 10 matches in qualification this time around. With the talented trio Arjen Robben, Robin Van Persie and Wesley Sneijder donning the Dutch jersey, 2014 could very well be the year, the Dutch team breaks its duck.
